Will Telephone, or Online, or Online Remote CBT / Therapy Work for You?
You might well ask what this is and how is it different from coming and seeing me face to face?
Most importantly, there is no difference in the outcome. Yes, that is right respected academic research shows that the results from remote therapy are just as good and that people still achieve their desired goals. It is just that you now have more choices than you might have expected in the past.
What Therapies can be Provided Remotely?
I am trained and experienced in delivering effective CBT and Brief Therapy either by telephone or digitally, and EMDR for trauma work online.
Over the past decade, I have gained a great deal of experience in working remotely. It has allowed me to help people that I have never seen face to face, some because they lived in remote parts of Norfolk and been unable to travel. As well as just about every corner of the UK change their life for the better. Regardless of education, ethnicity, religion, or social status.
Initially, this work was done over the telephone, some agencies use the terms ‘Teletherapy’, or ‘TeleCBT’ and ‘Remote CBT.’
Why over the phone?
Working over the telephone can be advantageous if you do not have time in your day to sit in front of a screen or have access to one. Some of my clients just cannot get any privacy at home or work to speak freely in confidence, so prefer to us the phone. Or, they might have a poor broadband connection.
Now it is possible to use well-respected video links such as Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, Duo, WhatsApp and Face Time etc.

Advantages of Remote Therapy
It opens the door for:
- People Who Live in Remote Areas – As it offers access to expert help and information on mental health to people in rural or remote areas, who might not otherwise have access.
- Online therapy provides accessibility to individuals who are disabled or housebound. Sadly, mobility and lack of transport can be a big issue when it comes to accessing mental health care.
- Affordability and Convenience – My fees for online therapy are no more expensive than for seeing me face to face. Some clients tell me remote counselling could be more affordable as they often find that they save money on travel, do not have to sit in traffic jams or take as much time off work. It could be more convenient to book online from your phone to schedule and pay for your therapy sessions and book in for times that are the most suitable for you?
- Health Insurance – Leading providers recognise the benefits of remote therapy as an effective treatment option. However, please check with your insurer first just to make sure that you are covered.
With all this in mind, wouldn’t you prefer to just go online in comfort at home, especially on dark, cold winter nights?
